Half Day Etna Morning Excursion

During this easy half-day excursion, after several scenic stops, we’ll take a gentle 1.5-hour walk at an altitude of 2000 metres to explore the famous Crateri Silvestri, extinct volcanic craters on the slopes of Mount Etna. Along the way, you’ll see ancient lava flows, unique endemic vegetation, and stunning views of the Ionian Coast, stretching from Syracuse to Taormina.

Your guide will share the history of Etna’s eruptions, explain how local communities live with an active volcano, and offer insight into everyday life at the foot of Mount Etna. You’ll learn how volcanic activity is monitored, how eruptions are predicted, and how each one reshapes the landscape. You’ll also discover the geological forces that have formed this remarkable terrain over thousands of years.

The tour ends at a local farm, where you’ll taste traditional Sicilian products from the Etna region.
